“You may have tried to stop many times and perhaps have convinced yourself this is the last time. Once you recognize you have been acting against your values and deceiving loved ones but unable to stop by yourself, it may be time to ask for professional help.”

Treatment for Compulsive Sexual Behavior Disorder

What often continues to fuel sexually compulsive behaviors is the shame and self-loathing that lies just beneath the surface and perpetuates the addictive cycle. When a person is filled with shame it is hard to have compassion for oneself much less to extend compassion and understanding to your partner thereby making healing the coupleship even more of a challenge.

Throughout our work together I will provide a safe and supportive environment in which to explore the coping mechanisms you have used to deal with issues of stress, feeling overwhelmed, unworthiness, anxiety and more.

Using research by Patrick Carnes, Ph.D. as a framework while exploring past history which may or may not include childhood trauma, we will focus on the path of your addictive cycle, the shame and denial fueling it, and the unmanageability that has come to consume your life. I will help you understand how you got here and provide you with strategies to manage the behaviors. Together we will develop an individualized treatment plan to cope with life’s stressors in a new, healthy and more productive way.

The treatment goal is to effectively manage your sexually compulsive behaviors and realign your values with the integrity you seek. To help solidify your success, I will help you develop a supportive network of family, friends and treatment professionals.

This exploration will transform your life as you begin to challenge the maladaptive coping strategies on which you have come to rely and replace those with healthy alternatives.

Change your life by taking this important first step toward healing and recovery!
